Joe Tee - (Richmond Acheampong)
I have been extensively involved in the Melbourne Club scene since arriving in Australia from Ghana in 1984. While based in Melbourne, I was involved in the organisation of a range of events and promoted a number of clubs based at different venues. I initiated and promoted Club Mogambo based at the Bridge Club in Richmond, Melbourne. At this venue, I was responsible for the promotions and the management of the club, booking of performers and DJs and also organising sound and lighting equipment. Since relocating to Brisbane, I have been performed each weekend at Casablanca Niteclub in Caxton Street since 1993 till April 2012,with my band Afrodisa. I have also performed with Afrodisa at numerous venues, functions, festivals and Sunday markets in Brisbane, on the Gold Coast and surrounds, and overseas, and have supported international acts, David Lee Roth, Lucky Dube, UB40, & Shasha Marley here in Australia.
I have worked in China as a DJ and also in Brisbane at various venues and Coporate functions, at Calypso Bar in Paddington; Casablanca Cellar Club, and on the Gold Coast as a DJ, in Surfer’s Paradise at the Bourbon Bar, The Avenue, Marinas Cove and Dockside. I was Master of Ceremony at the Brisbane Powerhouse’s two day Afrika Pacifika festival.
My repertoire of music includes African, Reggae, Calypso, Reggaeton, Latino, 70s, 80, 90s, Old School, Motown, modern Hip Hop, Dance, R & B, Rock & Roll and a vast range of World Music. I am a vibrant and energetic performer/DJ and I am very responsive to the needs and desires of my audience, engaging them at all times.
Through my work in Queensland over the last 20years, I have an established following and support of local international fans. I have also worked a large number of extremely talented performers and have many local and interstate.
